Subject: Mathematics

Grade: 6

Theme: Numbers

Focus Question: How can I    represent shared portions?

Sub-title: Shared-portions

Attainment Target:

Know the value of numerals, associate them with their names, numbers, ordinals and use concrete objects to model patterns, expressions, and numbers.

Content Outline:
Ratio expresses the relationship between two quantities. Ratios compare two measures of same types of things (use an example from the classroom here: boys to girls, teacher to students)
Ratios can be expressed as part to whole, part to part, or whole to part. Additionally, bring in the formats to writing ratios. (x:y, x/y, x to y) If two ratios have the same value, then they are equivalent, even though they may look very different
